- Elon Goat Token (EGT) delivered a $600,000 Elon Musk Crypto statue to Tesla HQ.
- The stunt was pulled to garner interest and affiliation from Elon Musk.
- But Musk gave the cold shoulder to the whole incident.
Elon Musk, the richest man in the world and one of the most controversial and brilliant-personality of the century, has a cult following in the crypto circuit. So much so that many Elon-themed tokens are operating in the market, including Dogelon Mars(ELON), spaceTwitterDoge, elonDogeFit, and Elon Goat Token (EGT).
A buzz created around a token can increase the price and utility manifold. Attempting to pull a similar stunt with EGT, the creators commissioned a $600,000 metal statue and delivered it to Tesla’s Austin Head Quarters. But failed to garner appreciation or anything from Elon Musk, not even a Twitter feed of the incident.
The 12,000-pound and 30-foot-tall metal statue features Elon’s head riding a goat which is riding a rocket. The statue also has a dog collar on Musk with DOGE attached to it.
As per the EGT whitepaper, the project (statue) was engineered to be roadworthy and carried upon a 50-foot semi-trailer. Conceptualized, rendered drawn in Los Angeles.
In the project description, the founders and “Elon Superfans.” said they were merely trying to do “Something no other crypto project has dared to do.” & to gain legitimacy and recognition of their project with a simple acknowledgment from Elon Musk.
Unfortunately, the $600,000 project failed to garner any interest from the richest man, not even on his platform, Twitter. However, the stunt got popularity and attention from The Wall Street Journal, Business Insider & The Washington Post.
Launched in January 2022 and operating on Binace Smart Chain (BSC). There is a lack of information regarding the purpose and utility of the token, which is heavily criticized for its Musk-centric marketing plans.
At the time of writing, EGT had 18,400 followers on Twitter; Coinmarket Cap and CoinGecko have listed the token but are unsure about its market cap. The price spiked momentarily during the statue’s delivery but dipped to a monthly low after delivery.
According to its White Paper, EGT is now claiming to be working on how it can have real utility in the Decentralized Finance space, as they have now migrated its smart contracts from BSC to Ethereum.
Over-the-top Publicity Stunts.
Performing over-the-top publicity stunts has become fairly common in crypto projects in recent years.
For Example, in 2018, a Ukrainian Social Network, ASKfm, placed a wallet with 50,000 tokens on the top of Mount Everest during its ICO. they estimated its price as per the value during the launch of ICO and pre-sale to be around $500,000.
In a recent stunt pulled by Epoch Cryptocurrency Website Wong-Ching Kit in 2018, dropped stacks of cash from a roof in Sham Sui Po, Hong Kong, for promotions.
