Persian Dreams outstanding collection

Fusing traditional and contemporary art forms is always exciting for art enthusiasts, and Brendan Dawes’ “Persian Dreams” exhibition at Art Dubai 2023 is no exception. Combining the epic poetry of the Shahnameh with cutting-edge technology and artistic expression, Dawes has created a thought-provoking body of work that explores universal themes and resonates with audiences of all backgrounds.

One of the fascinating aspects of the exhibition is the use of new technology, particularly AI, to create a lens through which we can see how stories told a millennia ago still resonate today. Dawes’ use of generative processes involving data, machine learning, and code to create interactive installations, electronic objects, online experiences, data visualizations, motion graphics, and physical sculptures interrogates our understanding of the surrounding world.

In addition to the use of new technology, the exhibition also incorporates traditional elements, such as the experimental soundscapes created by Madota that incorporate elements of zoorkhaneh and traditional athletic rituals. The verses and visuals of the Shahnameh are manifest in fortuitous oscillations between figuration and abstraction, creating a deep sense of history and the passage of time.

Gazelli Art House, hosting the exhibition, brings a fresh perspective to Mayfair by championing artists from all corners of the globe. The gallery promotes art from Azerbaijan and its neighbors, introducing a greater understanding of the rich linguistic, religious, and historical ties that connect these areas to international audiences. In 2015, the gallery diversified to support artists working in digital art through its online platform- GAZELL.iO

  • Comprising an online residency program, NFT drops and collaborations
  • A dedicated Project Space holding monthly exhibitions
  • A permanently installed VR Library in the heart of Mayfair

As you enter the exhibition, you’ll be struck by the visual and auditory feast that awaits you. The installation is designed to immerse you in a world of dreams and myths, transporting you to ancient Persia. The use of technology is seamlessly integrated into the artwork, adding a modern twist to traditional storytelling.

But what makes “Persian Dreams” truly exceptional is its ability to connect with audiences on a universal level. The themes explored in the exhibition, such as love, power, and heroism, are timeless and resonate with people of all backgrounds.

You don’t need to be familiar with Persian literature to appreciate the beauty and depth of the artwork. With its universal themes and innovative approach, “Persian Dreams” is set to be a highlight of Art Dubai 2023. Art lovers won’t want to miss this incredible showcase of creativity and talent.
