DWTC Showed Up With 1.98 Million Participants in 2022

The hub for a wide range of noteworthy commercial events achieved promising outcomes through its indescribable efforts. The Dubai Trade Centre (DWTC) came up with the result of hosting 1.98 million visitors with an increased rate of 29% compared with the past year, as per its 2022 annual results. 

The DWTC annual outcome

Normally, a year consists of 365 days, including 52 Sundays. However, during this limited period, DWTC successfully hosted 244 Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) and business and consumer events. According to the local media news, almost 97 meetings and conferences gathered 1.18 million participants, comprising 38% of participants overseas.

The numbers are just a glimpse that shows that the Emirate of Dubai is a comparatively favorable destination for business. The outstanding result represents the Dubai World Trade Centre’s business mindset and potential to charm over 37,000 exhibiting companies with increased figures of 50% from 2021, of which 72% of firms were international. 

The Director General of DWTC, Helal Saeed Almarri, mentioned, “We will build on this momentum by reinforcing Dubai’s position as the capital of the MICE industry and continue our contribution towards achieving Dubai Economic Agenda D33 goals.”

DWTC Events and Exhibitions

DWTC’s flagship events, GITEX Global and Gulfood, attracted 337,000 attendees, contributing 20% annual growth. Through these two events, around 12,000 exhibiting companies took part in the event. The Dubai World Trade Centre has made Dubai and UAE the world’s most preferred destination for major international business events by hosting industry-leading events.

As per the reports, DWTC has launched an international market-focused event company called KAOUN International, whose main objective is to provide the inaugural editions of the Saudi Food Show and GITEX Africa in 2023.

GITEX Global, the world’s largest tech show, generated a value of 2.6 billion dirhams as a total economic output, according to DWTC’s GITEX GLOBAL 2022 Economic Impact Assessment Report, published in December 2022. The Gulfood 27th edition event showed a 50% increase in visitors’ participation. The Gulfood event helped to connect several food and beverage producers. Connect uyers from the Middle East and South Africa region.

Sectors who played an important role in achieving the results  

Although every sector has its importance, Healthcare, Medical and Scientific are the prominent players in terms of contribution. Seventeen events took place under these sectors. Showed up to 202,000 visitors guided by a duo of region-leading healthcare exhibitions: Arab Health and AEEDC.

10 Information Technology sector events were held in 2022, while in 2021, only 7 events were organized. The Food and Beverage Trade sector held under Gulfood hosted 8 events. Contributed 160,000 visitors, an increase of 18% over 2021.
