Dubai Culture and Alserkal Arts joined alliances to launch three public art projects to offer artists a chance to engage with people about the art and history and culture of the city.
The Partnership of Dubai Culture and Alserkal Arts has announced the art project to deliver creative and cultural art in public space. The partnership is allowing artists to come and display their work. The three projects include Al Quoz Creative Zone, Shindagha Historic District, and Hatta.
The UAE-based practitioners will guide and lead the Art programs. The project Shindagha Historic District will be led by Munira Al Sayegh a Dubai-based custodian and cultural architect. The 2nd project Al Quoz Creative Zone will be led by Alserkal Arts Foundation. Faysal Tabarrah, Associate professor of Architecture is appointed as a curator for the Hatta project.
Alliance of Dubai Culture & Alserkal Arts
Dubai Culture launched on March 2008 by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The expertise area for Dubai Culture is Arts, Design, and Literature. The aim of the foundation is to authorize and develop the innovative and cultural sectors.
Currently, the foundation is working to develop bridges of constructive engagement within many cultures. Aiming to increase Dubai’s position as a global center for art and culture.
Alserkal Arts founded in 2007 and established in 2008 by businessman and benefactor Abdelmonem Bin Eisa Alserkal. The foundation focuses on 3 top-tier projects. Provide advisory to public and private entities to develop business models. Non-Profit, Alserkal Arts Foundation supports and provides aid to research, educational programs, and art galleries. Building cultural institutions to increase the economy of Dubai through the artistic sector.
The foremost focus of art projects
Al Quoz Creative Zone is a creative space to support innovative and creative talents and entrepreneurs.
Shindagha Historic District is a historic neighborhood located on the coast of Dubai creek. The District features 3 projects: Shindagha Welcome Pavilion, a teak wood roof to appreciate the role of wooden dhows played in old Dubai. Second project was the Story of Creek museum that acknowledges the history and the development of Dubai. The last project was the perfume house that let visitors explore scents through stations.
Dubai Culture launches a documentary project called Faces of Hatta. His Highness Sheikh bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s recent visit to Hatta is in the documentary. During the visit, he talked to the residents and explore the culture and heritage of the Hatta. In the documentary, residents will share their knowledge and memories. It will be in audio and video to preserve the knowledge of Hatta’s culture and heritage for the future generation.
