Tom Lee’s BitMine Immersion Technologies has just made a big splash into the crypto space.
Over the last week alone, the company has raked in a staggering $800 million worth of Ethereum. This kind of accumulation has now strengthened BitMine’s standing as the largest Ethereum treasury holder in the world.
$45 Million in a Single Buy
According to updates from Arkham Intelligence, Tom Lee’s BitMine bought a staggering $45 million worth of ETH in a single day on Friday.

BitMine’s latest disclosure shows that the company now owns nearly 1.714 million ETH. This is alongside 192 Bitcoin and more than $560 million in cash. The combined value of its crypto and cash reserves has also risen to $8.82 billion, despite price swings after a recent market dip.
This trend of accumulation shows Lee’s conviction in Ethereum as a long-term asset. The strategy started in late June and has already pushed BitMine far ahead of competitors like SharpLink, which holds about 740,750 ETH.
Why Ethereum is Important to BitMine’s Strategy
Ethereum’s role in defi, RWA tokenisation and other blockchain-based applications has made it the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. BitMine choosing to focus on ETH shows that it believes the network will hold up much of the future in terms of finance.
Tom Lee, who also heads research at Fundstrat Global Advisors, has made it clear that Ethereum is currently his top bet. He believes that Wall Street's adoption of the current rate of AI integration is likely to flow first through Ethereum than Bitcoin.

Lee stated that Ethereum is “one of the biggest macro trades over the next 10–15 years.” By this, he likely means that BitMine’s treasury plan is a long-term play, rather than short-term speculation.
According to Wikipedia, Lee is an American entrepreneur, financial analyst, strategist, investor, businessman, and CNBC contributor. He also obtained a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, with Finance and Accounting as majors.
Lee left J.P. Morgan to start Fundstrat Global Advisors in 2014 and currently serves as the Head of Research for Fundstrat Global Advisors.
Ethereum Near All-Time Highs
Ethereum has had a strong year so far. Prices recently reached a new record near $4,950 before dropping about $400 during the general market correction. Even after that pullback, ETH is more than 25% higher since the beginning of August.
Investor demand has been supported so far by institutional interest in Ethereum (especially as a staking platform). Analysts are also pointing to ETH’s dominance in terms of stablecoins and tokenised assets, both of which have been rising, even in traditional finance.
Lee expects these trends to speed up over the years. He has even predicted Ethereum could hit $15,000 by the end of the year if it continues this way.
Comparing the Options
Each method of Ethereum exposure has its own trade-offs. Buying on the spot market provides full utility and liquidity.
However, it also requires buyers to be responsible for their assets.
ETFs, on the other hand, provide simplicity and are regulated. However, they lack DeFi access. Meanwhile, BitMine is choosing the spot approach, and its aggressive accumulation shows that it has a strong conviction in Ethereum.
The Road Ahead for BitMine and Ethereum
BitMine’s treasury strategy has already made it the largest Ethereum holder among public companies. This said, if Lee’s prediction of $15,000 plays out, BitMine’s holdings could rise in value over the next few months.
This would further cement its leadership among corporate treasuries. So far, Investors and analysts will be watching to see how regulators respond to further ETF staking proposals from other issuers.
The next few months will be important not only for Ethereum’s price, but also for the future of crypto investment vehicles in the United States.
